DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

Do you want to be featured in a future issue of Belong Magazine? Have you submitted your proposal? Now is the time!

We don’t want you to waste your time (or ours, let’s be honest), so we are giving you our top tips to be sure that your submission is reviewed and considered. Yes, it’s that simple.

1 / Be specific + original.

Let us give you a few concrete examples.

“Increase Instagram Followers” = NO //  “Grow Your Biz with Insta-Blogging”= YES

“Blog Tips” = NO  //  “5 Mistakes Bloggers Make and How to Fix Them” = YES

“Everyday Fashion” = NO  //  “Everyday Fashion for the Work at Home Woman” = YES

“Start Your Own Blog” = NO  //  “Start from Scratch: How to Create a Successful Blog” = YES

No, longer is not better, but if the title is too vague we’re more likely to pass over it. We can alter the title after submission if necessary, but be sure to get your point across clearly. Subtitles are helpful when appropriate as in the last example.

ONE MORE THING related to being original: We don’t want content that has been published elsewhere, and our readers certainly didn't pay to read content that has been published elsewhere. Fresh, original content is key.

2 / Include good images.

This is a tough one for some of you, we know. So let us give you a bit of advice: collaborate. If you have a dynamite piece you want to submit, but no quality images to accompany it, reach out to a photographer and see if they’d be interested in working together. We provide full credit to the photographer in the magazine as well as the writer, so it’s great exposure for them too.

Please remember, images need to be visually and technically high quality (nothing under 300 dpi). Look through our Instagram or previous issues for an idea of what would fit best.

**IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE IMAGES, please don't let that stop you. We will do our best to help you out. Better to submit no pics than to submit bad ones.

3 / Use our form.

Please. We're begging you. Use the form! With all the emails that come our way, it is hard to keep track of who is interested in what. If you want to be considered as a contributor, use the provided form which allows us to maintain a list of possible pieces for the current issue and beyond--all in one place.

4 / Live links.

If you provide links that we can just click on to get to what you're wanting us to see, you're golden! The more time it takes us to review all of the info you submit, the less likely we are to actually see it all.

That’s it in in nutshell. So are you ready to submit your proposal? Hope so! We can't wait to see it. Click here for the requirements and click here for the form.
